JOHN TERRY will play for England tonight but not as captain – and for me that’s the wrong decision by Fabio Capello. As long as JT was doing the job on the field that’s all that should have mattered. All this business with the French model and Wayne Bridge has clearly affected him because he has not been the John Terry we all know. He has been hammered in the papers but we have to forget the negatives and look at the positives. England fans have booed their own players in the past and Terry will run out at Wembley wondering if he will get the same treatment. But with a World Cup coming up we need everyone to get behind the team and cheer him on instead of f***ing booing him. Terry is only human and things like that go on in factories right across the country. If we left players out because they got in trouble, we’d be left with the Under-12s. This country has a habit of building players up and then cutting them down. We need John Terry to win the World Cup – simple as that. Let’s encourage him to play like Captain Marvel. He will never change, he is a leader on the park and will still guide the team – armband or not.
NEIL Warnock has done brilliantly in his career and he deserves another shot at the Premier League. I’m surprised no top-flight team has come in for him and now the only way he can get there is to win promotion. QPR won’t get there this season but my money would be on them next year. With a new chairman and his management, QPR fans will be delighted to have some stability at the club. They’ve had to put up with a lot off the field but hopefully things will be more exciting on it. Warnock leaves Crystal Palace in a hole, though. They are a big club but they have sold all their assets. They don’t even own their ground and have debts of over £30million – that’s the problem when you drop out of the Premier League, you are still paying top wages and it just eats you and eats you. Players’ wages are getting higher and higher and the clubs keep on paying them. It needs to stop before it gets further out of control.
